Holding Up Our End

A good parent determines what his/her child can do and never demands more of the child than the child can do. God knows perfectly what every child of His can do and never asks any of them to do anything they cannot do. God is the greatest parent there can ever be.

God*s children are never unable to hold up their end. When they fail it is only and always because they are unwilling.

God will sometimes ask us to do something in which we might appear to fail from a human perspective. God has a different and better method of measuring success than we have. Success in the kingdom of God is obeying Him. Failure is disobeying Him. A pastor was fired because the only soul he won to Christ one year was Wee Willie Moffat. Wee Willie Moffatt went on to win countless souls to Christ on the mission field. From God*s perspective that pastor had a very fruitful year. In the eyes of the leaders of his church the pastor was a failure not worthy of keeping his job.

Psalms 103:13-14: Like as a father pitieth his children, so the LORD pitieth them that fear him. For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust.

2 Corinthians 4:7: But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.

Matthew 11:28-30: Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

I don*t ever want to say that serving God is easy. But it is easier than the alternative. Our abilities are not determined by who we are. They are determined by who our father is. They are determined by what God wants them to be. We need to get a firm grip on the fact that we are Sons of God and brethren of Jesus Christ. We need to know who we are and whose we are. We need to know whose power works in us.

Romans 8:15-17: For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.

Philippians 4:13: I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

Philippians 2:13: For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.

1 Corinthians 3:9: For we are labourers together with God: ye are God*s husbandry, ye are God*s building.

Holding up our end is simply trusting Him. You see, while we are holding up our end He is holding us.
